Where too start...hmmm. Well I was
born, into this world, as a little baby girl... LOL sorry to far back.
I'll fast forward a little, though it won't be much.
I was born into a Christian family. So I've pretty muchly known Jesus all my life. But that of course doesn't account for a Personal Salvation Experience. I can't say I remember much. I was young at the time, about six I think. I was in First Grade I believe. My mom said I was a real rebellious little girl. And I do remember that to an extent. I was always getting into trouble. At the time I was going to a Christian Private School, and my teacher was a real strict God fearing Baptist woman. I really don't remember it in detail, but I know I had gotten into trouble with her and she took me to the paddling room. I'm sure she talked to me about my rebellious nature and how it wasn't pleasing to God. Then she lead me to Christ. My mom said she instantly knew there had been a change in me, and to this day she wishes she new how my teacher did it. Of course it wasn't just my teacher, but the Holy Spirit and the right timing. The changes that my mom said she saw was that I didn't talk back as much. Obeyed more readily then usual, had a better attitude, and of course a lot of other things. Overall, I was a happier child. Can't really say I remember much of that, so I'll just take her word. Church wise, I have always gone to church. They have always been small churches also. The first one I don't remember much, but our family went there from before I was born till I was about...well I guess it was when I was about 6 years old when it went under. It was a Gospel Tabernacle church. Then after some searching we found a little country church, an Assembly of God denomination, and have been going there for 20 years now. I have a lot of fond memories in this church. I've seen people come and go and come back, and it has such a loving spirit about it. Everyone who has ever come there say they knew the Spirit of God was there and could feel the love in the church. The church has had four different pastors, I've been there for three of them. All have been wonderful and contributed in some way. I guess the couple that had the most impact on me was the second couple to take over. They are the ones that saw leadership potential in me and help me develop it. They did a lot of Kid's Crusades and for several years I would go with them, from one end of Texas to the other (not really, but almost) helping them. I helped in setting up and color posters that were to be used. I also prayed for the children during the altar call. I did many other task, but the main duty I loved was puppeteering. They where the ones that encouraged me that even at a young age I could contribute to the church. And being a small church there where a lot of areas that needed help. I helped the Pastor's wife with Children's Church (which we called Super Church) for several years then eventually took it over from her, and a friend and I shared the responsibilities. I'm not sure how long I did that, but I've been out of it for several years now. Around that same time we (our church) started up a program called Missionettes. It's kinda like Girl Scouts in a way, where you earn badges and learn new skills, but it has a Christian theme to it. That's where I went through the Stars program and became an Honor Star. It included a lot of Scripture verse memorizing, Bible reading, and other requirements. During that time, I also was a Daisies Sponsor for 2 years -- a Missionette class for Kindergarten and First Grade Girls. I
was also a Royal Ranger Commander for 2 years, (a program like the Boy
Scouts) during the same time I was working with the Daisies. It started
out I had just Straight Arrows which are the same age as Daisies. But
as more boys got interested in it and there where no men to take them I
also extended to help the Pioneers and Air/Sea/Trail Ranger boys. Then
after 2 years my Straight Arrows graduated to Buckaroos. Finally, the
Senior Commander got some men interested and they took over the Royal
Rangers for me. I was sad, but relieved at the same time.
Since my Daisies had graduated to the next Missionette class which already had a teacher, and there where no other Daisy age children I was asked to take over the Rainbow program for girls and boys ages 2 to 5, just before they graduate and separate to go into Missionettes and Royal Rangers. I had that class for a little over a year. Then because of lack of interest both programs stalled and then went under. Other ministries I've been
involved in is Sunday School, being a substitute teacher. With my dad
being the Superintendent it's easy for him to call on me when some one
calls in sick or whatever. At one time I was almost the only one and
have substituted for every class in our church except for the Adults
class. But since our church has been growing (believe me we are
experiencing some major growing pains) we have a lot more workers so he
hasn't had to call on me as much. And of course I've also done a lot of
work with the Youth in many areas.
As for right now, I'm working in the Sound Booth and playing the piano for Youth Praise and Worship. I've been trying to work on my piano skills here lately, but believe me I need a LOT more work. I also work with the Youth every once in a while with Dramas and Skits. In all of this there is only on
thing I can say. "God is Good! And he always will be."
